General Ahmad Yani

The General of Indonesian Army, General Ahmad Yani, was one of the Revolution Heroes who passed away on the Thirtieth of September Movement. He was born on June 19th, 1922, in Purworejo.
In his political views, General Ahmad Yani was against and was never on the same side as the Communist Party of Indonesia (Indonesian: PKI/Partai Komunis Indonesia). When they tried to make a 5th force which consisted of armed farm workers, Ahmad Yani rejected it. This is why he was included in the list of kidnapping and killing target by Communist Party of Indonesia in 1965.

Along with the other 7 Commissioned Officer of the Army, he was abducted and killed then his body was put inside an old well in Lubang Buaya on the operation of the Thirtieth of September Movement.

At dawn of October 1st, Ahmad Yani was shot in front of his bedroom. After a search was done the next day, Ahmad Yani was then buried with respect in Taman Makam Pahlawan, South Jakarta.

He, along with the other 7 Commissioned Officers that became victims of Communist Party of Indonesia's cruelty was then named the Revolution Heroes and their rank was raised posthumously from Lieutenant to General.
